Technically, none. When I say technically, I mean that the oldest known animal is only 400 years old, though, coincidentally, it was a clam. Other than the 2007 discovery of Ming the Clam, the average lifespan of an Atlantic Clam reaches up to 220 years.

Anyway, I’ll rephrase the question as “How 220 year-old clams do we eat in a lifetime” Not many. According to NOAA, in 2010, almost half of the United States’ seafood came from foreign aquaculture, with another decent percentage coming from domestic aquaculture. At these “fish farms”, the lifespan of the clams is highly regulated to meet the age and size requirements, so none of the clams are going to much older or bigger than the requirements when they are sent off to be eaten, lest the company lose money. So any old clams you may have consumed will have been captured the old-fashioned way.

You can actually estimate the age of the clam you are about to eat by the number of growth rings on its shell, just like a with a tree. I would hope that if a clam had a particularly high number of growth rings that it would garner a bit of interest and be spared.

But to give you a quantitative answer, I would estimate that about 1-3 clams you will eat in your lifetime will have surpassed the 220 year-mark.
